In a breathtaking position on the shores of Lake Tarawera, Solitaire Lodge is a tranquil haven providing a high level of service in this area of great natural beauty.
The Lodge has ten Guest Suites, all furnished to give maximum comfort with spacious, individually designed interiors, private terraces and views over the lake or lagoon.
The lounge with 180 degree views through floor to ceiling windows, is furnished for total relaxation, in front of a comforting log fire in the winter or on the sun-drenched terrace outside in the summer. The library provides a wide selection of books and games. On the walls are hung the Solitaire Lodge Art Collection, showing the many facets of New Zealand.
Dining at Solitaire Lodge involves food simply presented to enhance the natural flavours prepared in the open kitchen, and wine chosen from the best New Zealand vineyards. Guests share the dining table, which can accommodate up to 20 guests. Dress for dinner is smart casual. If preferred, dinner and/or breakfast can also be served in the Suites.
The waters of Lake Tarawera consistently yield the largest number of trophy-sized rainbow trout in the Southern Hemisphere, or guests can seek the tranquillity of fly-fishing on one of the many rivers and streams in the area.
