near Russell, Bay of Islands

Omata Retreat, with its secluded shoreline and executive facilities, is a tranquil retreat from the hubbub of everyday life. Exclusivity is assured, as locations such as this are hard to come by. Bay of Islands is an aquatic wonderland - the subtropical climate, abundant marine life and wealth of watersport activities make this a haven for fishing and other maritime pursuits.

Total seclusion is ensured by two peninsular heads framing the private, golden beach of Pipiroa Bay. Just ten metres from the water's edge is the schist and cedar homestead complete with luxuriously appointed kitchen, wine cellar, three fireplaces and every conceivable modern convenience. The homestead features a private library and a study with private fax line for confidentiality and email facility. The family room contains a 68-inch television with an interesting and varied range of DVDs and videos.

The Omata Retreat consists of The Homestead and The Boatshed. When booking the entire retreat you will be assured total privacy and exclusive use of all facilities, accommodating up to 12 guests.

Walk in the hills and enjoy the 25-hectare property complete with vineyard, viticulturists' home and restaurant, then explore further afield using the private jetty, helipad or road.

Continental breakfast supplies are provided daily. Breakfast can be tailored to your needs, at your request.

The restaurant at Omata, situated amongst the vines, is an essential dining destination during your stay. Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers a comprehensive menu using only the best New Zealand products available, prepared in its engaging outdoor kitchen.

Other dining options include a romantic dinner for two in the shimmering sunset, a casual barbecue in the wonderful outside entertaining area, or a menu designed and served in the handsome homestead dining room, prepared by World renowned chefs on hand to attend to your culinary needs.

Rates include unlimited use of all recreational facilities - tennis, kayaks, windsurfer and fishing equipment.

Omata Retreat is situated five minutes from Russell. There is an airport at Kerikeri (20 minutes' drive) and Auckland (three hours' drive, 40 minutes by helicopter). You can also sail to the Retreat and utilise the private jetty.
